Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a public weighbridge and who can use it?

A public weighbridge is a large, certified scale that measures vehicles' weight and loads. It’s open to the general public, businesses, and transport operators who need an official, documented vehicle weight for legal, commercial, or personal reasons.

Weighbridges are commonly used for towing compliance, buying or selling vehicles, landfill drop-offs, and logistics reporting.

  • Do I need an appointment to use a public weighbridge?

In most cases, you don't need an appointment. Public weighbridges are designed to provide fast, walk-in service for many vehicles. Drive onto the scale and let the operator know what type of weight ticket you need. The process usually takes just a few minutes.

  • What kind of weight ticket will I receive?

Weight tickets are printed records that detail your vehicle's weight measurements. The ticket may show the gross weight (fully loaded), tare weight (empty), axle group weights, or a combination. These tickets are helpful for legal compliance, registration updates, insurance verification, or proof of sale.
