Skip Bins availability & Eligilbility

Our skip bins are a limited operational resource and are allocated based on suitability and availability.
We assess each request individually to ensure bins are placed where they will be used efficiently and safely.

Allocation is based on:

  • Location – service area, access, and logistics
  • Material type – suitability and value of contents
  • Turnover expectations – how quickly the bin will be filled and collected
  • Business relationship – ongoing and long-term partnerships are prioritised

We do not supply skip bins on a first-come, first-served basis.

Skip Bins & Hook Bins — Supply & Allocation

We do have skip bins and hook bins available — however, they are a limited operational resource and are supplied to the right clients, in the right locations, for the right materials.

Bins are not handed out on a whim or placed without proper assessment. Each request is reviewed carefully to ensure the placement is practical, productive, and suitable for both parties.

As a working recycling operation, our bins must remain active and efficiently used. This allows us to maintain service quality, manage logistics responsibly, and ensure fair access across our customer base.

We Are Metal Recyclers — Not a General Waste Company

Our bin supply operates very differently from traditional rubbish removal providers.

We are metal recyclers, not a waste disposal business charging per lift, transport fee, or dump fee. Our bin placements are based on the recovery and recycling of metal — not general waste collection.

Because of this, the type of material, expected volume, and turnover are critical when assessing bin supply.

To ensure the arrangement works for everyone, we will ask for as much information as possible before allocating a bin.

This may include:

  • Location and site access
  • Type of material going into the bin
  • Estimated volume and frequency of filling
  • Expected collection timeframes
  • Nature of the project or ongoing operation
  • Long-term vs short-term requirements

This helps us determine whether the placement is suitable and sustainable.

Temporary Bin Supply

Temporary skip or hook bins may be available for qualifying projects where:

  • Material type is appropriate
  • Expected volumes justify placement
  • Timeframes are clearly defined
  • Collection scheduling can be maintained
  • Site access and safety requirements are met

Temporary placements are agreed in advance and bins must be ready for collection when scheduled.

Long-Term & Ongoing Bin Placement

Long-term bin supply is available for customers who generate consistent, qualifying metal volumes and maintain reliable turnover.

We prioritise ongoing business relationships where bins remain active and productive.
All long-term placements are reviewed periodically to ensure they continue to meet operational requirements.

Usage Expectations

Our bins are working assets — they are not intended for indefinite storage or low-activity use.

We cannot leave bins on site for extended periods with minimal or irregular material flow. If a bin is inactive, under-utilised, or not used as agreed, we may:

  • Arrange collection
  • Reallocate the bin elsewhere
  • Review or discontinue the placement

This ensures our equipment is used efficiently and remains available to customers who need it.

Who We Work Best With

Our bin services are best suited to:

  • Businesses producing regular metal scrap
  • Industrial or commercial operations
  • Ongoing trade relationships
  • Projects with defined timeframes and volumes
  • Customers who understand recycling logistics and turnaround requirements

Bins For Every Job

Bin hire in Cairns for scrap and metal waste is what we do, with options ranging from standard skip bins to roll-on roll-off bins. No two jobs are the same, and some loads can be more complex—but we’ll always do our best to make it work.

Give us a call, and we’ll discuss your requirements, assess the best bin for your needs, and work with you to find a practical solution. Our goal is to make your site safer, tidier, and easier to manage, no matter the size of the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size of skip bin do I need for scrap metal?

The bin size you need depends on the volume and weight of your scrap metal. A 2m³ to 4m³ skip bin is usually enough for smaller jobs like garage clean-outs. Larger jobs, such as demolition or factory cleanups, often require roll-on roll-off bins between 10m³ and 15m³.

  • Can I put mixed materials in a scrap metal skip bin?

Generally, no. Scrap metal bins should be filled with metal-only waste to ensure proper recycling and fair pricing. Mixing metals with rubbish, timber, or other materials can lead to contamination, reduced scrap value, or even the load being rejected. It’s always best to separate materials beforehand and use different bins for different types of waste.

  • How long can I keep a skip bin on-site?

Most skip bin hires run for 3 to 7 days by default, but many providers are flexible. Extended hire periods can usually be arranged if you're managing an ongoing project or need time to collect scrap. Many services offer early pickups or bin swaps if you fill up faster than expected.
